A healing characteristic of honey that has a history of thousands of years in New Zealand. Honey from certain traditional plants, especially in some areas, has been recognized as more effective.
UMF® is called Unique Manuka Factor and is a special ingredient contained in Manuka honey. Some manuka honeys have been found by the University of Waikato, Institute of Biochemistry, New Zealand to be high in special ingredients, distinguishing them from other manuka honeys.
Generally, the Bach number (Bach.NO), UMF value and MG value are listed together based on the UMF CERTIFICATE tested and issued by the UMF® Honey Association.
Manuka honey was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for hospital treatment in 2008.
